We have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious, focused Buyer to join our Supply Chain Team. You will have the opportunity to take end-to-end ownership of the sourcing strategy for the business at NW Total Engineered Solutions, but also be part of a passionate and determined team who are focused on delivering results for the overall business.

In this role, you will ensure the efficient and effective procurement of a defined portfolio of goods and services. As a Buyer, you will collaborate closely with various departments to align procurement activities with operational needs. Additionally, you will monitor market trends and evaluate supplier performance to ensure we stay ahead in the industry.

Carr’s Engineering designs, manufactures, and services bespoke equipment, vessels, precision components and remote handling systems alongside providing specialist engineering services in the Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, Motorsport, Pharmaceutical and Renewable industries. We have over 120 years of experience and provide industry leading services to our portfolio of long-standing customers.

Key responsibilities

  • The operational buying of goods and services.
  • Ensuring projects receive orders to the required quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
  • To negotiate and develop formal supply agreements and ensure compliance for an agreed portfolio of goods and services.
  • To maintain supplier relationships to deliver safe, secure, ethical, and cost-effective supply base.
  • To undertake spend analysis to identify supply side risks and savings opportunities for a defined portfolio.
  • To participate in continuous improvement activities to ensure the alignment of the procurement portfolio with business and operational strategies.

What you need for the role


  • Professional procurement qualification Level 4 CIPS (or willing to work towards it).
  • Previous Experience in purchasing/procurement
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong multi-tasking and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a close team


  • Experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Previous experience in use of ERP systems (i.e. SAP, Dynamics 365, etc.)
